Lauren Elaine Rocks LA with F/W 2010 Collection

By Jessica. Posted in Los Angeles Fashion Week | Comments Off

LA Rocks Fashion Week’s presentation of Lauren Elaine’s Fall 2010 Black Label collection stood on it’s own amongst the glitz and glam of the famed Sunset Strip. Held at The Key Club known for hosting some of rocks finest acts, was the perfect setting for Lauren’s “Little Red Riding Hood” inspired collection. The red carpet was teeming with a variety of young Hollywood “In Crowd”, many of whom donned fashion wear provided by Lauren Elaine.

Recording Artist/Actress Kayslee Collins kicked off the event backed by an edgy but homogeneous rock/punk band, the set being highlighted by a punk rock rendition of Lady Ga Ga’s “Bad Romance”.The crowd was fully warmed up when Lauren’s presentation began with a brilliant array of gowns and dresses which lead up to the “surprise” ending…A stunning “Little Red Riding Hood” gown, the model flanked by Harley the “Wolf” (a Siberian Husky) as they glided down the runway to David Bowie’s “Putting Out the Fire (with Gasoline). The crowd was thrilled and stood up as the gorgeous Lauren Elaine met at the stage’s end with “Little Red Riding Hood” and the “Wolf”.
Next up was the headlining music act “Darling Stilettos”, who served up a scorching set of 80’s style metal, fueled by wild gyrations and a more than generous helping of sex appeal. Capping off the evening was the dark visuals of “Stella Rossa” who’s haunting keyboard sounds and bizarre theatrics were reminiscent of an H.P. Lovecraft story. A really great act.

Digital Graffiti Announces 2010 Finalists!

By Jessica. Posted in Emerald Coast Events, FABulous Parties | Comments Off

Art on walls. Seems simple enough.…But digital art projected on the illustrious white walls of Alys Beach? A WHOLE different story. Every June, for the past three years, artists and visitors from all over the world make their way to the infamous and always captivating Alys Beach for one of the world’s most amazing events - Digital Graffiti.

Another Reason to Wear that Little Black Dress…

By Jessica. Posted in Emerald Coast Events | Comments Off

Attention ladies! We finally found a good excuse to buy another little black dress—and this time it’s for charity! The White-Wilson Center for Women’s Imaging has partnered with local organizations to host The Little Black Dress Party to help promote preventative healthcare and raise money for local charities. Men, you are invited too, and you do not have to wear a little black dress. In fact, we encourage you not to!

With the current economic conditions, White-Wilson Medical Center has seen a decline in preventative health screenings, specifically amongst women ages 18–55. Unfortunately, these economic difficulties don’t change the fact that early detection is the most effective way to fight back against debilitating diseases such as breast and colon cancer, osteoporosis and heart disease.

In response, White-Wilson Medical Center and Emerald Ladies Journal have partnered with Dillard’s, Qantum Communications, Cox Communications, The Northwest Florida Daily News, Image Printing, Emerald Chic and the Emerald Coast Conference Center to raise awareness regarding the importance of preventative healthcare amongst women and to host this electrifying event. We are passionate that preventative care is the best way to save lives.

The Little Black Dress Party is May 22 at the Emerald Coast Conference Center, and will feature live music by Déjà vu Band, a fashion show by Dillard’s, a live auction, heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Tickets are $60 and corporate tables of 10 are $600; 100% of event proceeds will benefit The Shelter House, Opportunity Inc., and the local chapters of The American Cancer Society and The American Heart Association. Call 863‑8204 for tickets.

We still need items for the live auction as well as event sponsors. By partnering together, we believe that we can make a difference in the lives of the women in our community. We are proud to bring you this exciting new event and hope that you will slip into your favorite little black dress (or black suit for gentlemen) and come celebrate life and good health with us!

Concept LA Features Designer Jen Awad

By Jessica. Posted in Los Angeles Fashion Week | Comments Off

Located in old downtown Los Angeles at the Spring Arts Tower, Smash Box’s Concept LA was presented in a room which had the ambiance of a 1940’s bank.

Concept LA boasted a wide variety of designers and new up and coming Los Angeles fashion design and concept. The myriad of mood and music into which each designer contributed a piece of themselves, showcased the more gut level fashion that presently thrives in the LA area.

Punctuated by the setting, designer Jen Awad’s self described version of a “post apocalyptic” vision of the 40’s and 50’s brought into the “now using modern materials” was a big hit with crowd and media alike. Her inspired utilization of the classic” form and silhouette of a woman”  and complementing selection of background music that brought the focus to her design line, Jen paraded her array of 40’s — 50’s influenced and “accidentally 80’s mix” designs down the runway to an enthusiastic crowd. Jen Awad is one the LA stand-out designers to keep an eye out for.
