Who Doesn’t Love a Good Marc Jacobs Ad?

By Jessica. Posted in NY Fashion News | Comments Off

Although this ad published some time ago, I couldn’t help but rekindle the love I have for the ever so carefully designed ads of Marc Jacobs. There just something about the randomness potrayed in every ad that seems to make me stop, put down my coffee and think “what the heck am I looking at?” But calm takes it course when I immediately recognize the style, imaging and photography of one of life’s most fascinating designers. All is well because it’s Marc Jacobs at his best. Portraying not only the images of life, but the most unfiltered happenings that seem to take place, or have taken place at some point in our unpredictable lives.

Not sure if it’s the fact that when one ad posts a lady hanging over the side railing of a construction site with nothing but painted graffiti in the background that just seems to revive the martinis I had the night before.…or perhaps that kick-back to days past with bright red painted lipstick and ferocious eyebrows. But somehow, only Marc Jacobs can do ads just this way…and it works tremendously!

Oh how I love it!

Get Colorful for Spring!

By Jessica. Posted in CHIC on the Street | Comments Off

This handbag I came across while shopping at Dillard’s. I LOVE how colorful the spring collections are. A great accessory that stands out and brings life to your outfit.

Here is a recommendation in what is fast becoming my second home, Miami. There is a new spot that came HIGHLY suggested by Manager Ovy Anghel, we were at dinner with friends on Espanola Way, and he insisted on taking me for a look-see of this new super chic spot, CAVIAR KASPIA. We took off and headed down Collins to this classic Art Deco hotel, entered, and I was immediately taken by the interiors. The architects had managed to build on the Landmark status flooring, and modernize it in such a way that it created a sumptuous and intimate ambiance…all deep chocolate walls, and aqua accents.

I was taken up to the rooftop outdoor lounge to have a look…also stunning, a small and cozy space which, unfortunately due to the cold weather, was closed but I could still get a sense of what an extraordinary place this would be on a gorgeous South Beach night. We returned downstairs, where Ovy gave me the history of Caviar Kaspia -“The place was designed by the people from Trussardi and is a branch of the famed Caviar Kaspia in Paris, France. The location here in South Beach incorporates a high-end sportswear selection of clothing on the ground level, while the 2nd story houses primarily high-end ready-to-wear..

The place is already a secret respite for the super-chic, model crowd, ubiquitous fashionistas, bold-faced names such as NAOMI CAMPBELL and SERENA WILLIAMS, as well as the most influential characters in The Miami-Dade area. As it was close to closing, Mike, the bartender who I had incidentally met on several castings while in town modeling last season, topped up our champagnes and we called it a night, agreeing that I would come for brunch the next day.

I gathered two of my well-traveled mates and we enjoyed a superb brunch and a chance to see the operation in full swing. I had the Croque Mademoiselle, a twist on the French classic comprised of beautifully smoked salmon, gruyere cheese, nestled between two slices of challah bread and topped with a poached egg and caviar…DELICIOUS!!! Manager Ovy oversaw the proceedings and insisted I have one of their twice baked potatoes…in a word…SUBLIME!!!! Even down to the peel, beautifully flavoured. Everyone was over-the-moon with their choices, so much so that we barely noticed the pint-sized Pharrell as he entered the room with two glamazons, and sat across from us. The service was impeccable, discreet, yet attentive, all the offerings arrived perfectly garnished, and the cocktails potent and plentiful. Mr. Anghel runs a tight-ship and it shows.

After finishing up our last of numerous delicate Bellini, we decided to see their sartorial offerings. Both floors had a well-thought out collection of fine clothing that was oh-so-perfect for South Beach…the jacquard print tuxedo jacket by Tom Ford, the curly lamb motorcycle jacket by Yves Saint Laurent, the tuxedo slippers with the larger-than-life monogram, all spoke to a perfect swanky night poolside in the “Fool’s Paradise”. Even the sportswear had a super sexy, yet confidentially luxurious message to express.

Labels included APC; ACNE, BALENCIAGA, BALMAIN, BAND OF OUTSIDERS, GIVENCHY, NEIL BARRETT; JIMMY CHOO: VIKTOR & ROLF, and SPURR to name but a few. Having been a model for years, I have been fortunate enough to have been exposed to and dressed in some of the finest clothing in the world both on the runway and for appearances (a shout out to my favourites Dsquared2!) and I can tell you that the buyer here did not just cull some “clobber” (as they say in England) but assembled a well curated collection…BRAVO!!!

So, next time in South Beach, be sure to pay a visit for a full-experience. Tell them I sent you!
